- This play is a proposal for the youngest audience, who have not been to our theatre yet. It is a small-audience performance with
actors and dolls close to the kids.
The unusual premiere of "Little Red Riding Hood" in The Puppet and Actor Theatre "Kubu" marks the opening of the Stage of Theatrical
Initiation for the Youngest.
There is a Wolf in our tale. It is not as evil as one might expect. There is a girl called a Little Red Riding Hood and the Grandmother
whom the girl intends to visit . There is a Hunter as well, and obviously all ends well. Agata Sowa's text, based on the tale by Grimm
brothers, is witty and it appeals to a contemporary child who knows what rap is. Where it is possible, the characters rap - says the
director and the stage artist - Alexander Andrzej Łabiniec. His stage design is modest, but beautiful, its delights us with sublime
combination of colours. What takes one aback, is the dolls of inconspicuous size. - This is because the play is going to be staged
in kindergartens- explains Irena Dragan, the manager of the theatre. - The children will be sitting on the floor in the semi-circle.
They will actually be on the stage with the actors. That's why, the dolls have to be of modest size. It is only the Wolf that is big.
Why was the canon changed and the audience merged together with the actors?
- We noticed that little children are scared when the lights go out and it gets dark in the theatre. And we do not want them to be afraid. We want them to feel at home here. We hope that such a performance will encourage them to perform on their own.- adds Irena Dragan."
